Atari has a TV adapter that loves 'racing' something. That something is the answer.

Thanks for the clues guys. That took way longer than it should have to get the 2004 one.

It's only one word, I was stuck on that one too because I was writing what kind of component it was as well.

<--- 2004 question related hint.

Punctuation matters! Periods, Commas, Question Marks are valid!

This impacts both the Chris question and the Mario question - get your punctuation right!

There's also a book by MIT Press about the Atari 2600. It too has the magic word in the title.

I believe its par for the course to have the questions worded odd. Anyway.

Question 1: Indie - One word
Question 2: Re-read the question - One word
Question 3: Can't get this one either. Tried everything.

I just tried the Assassin's Creed one again just now and it finally worked. Just the like the recent Mario question though it shows as if you have not answered it but it will display in your list.

Yeah, it has the same problem. You only need to submit the subtitle.

The Mario one is confusing as hell, especially since the answer is so obvious.

Due to the Rogue daily being busted, everyone will retroactively be bumped up to an A grade on that one.

so the commodore one is confusing

are you looking for the name of the storage media, the technique used to skip ahead in games or something else?

the sonic one doesnt use the proper full title of the game. its only 2 words.

thanks,

i just spent the last 10 minutes trying different variations of the specific device name made by commodore, it was way more generic than anything i was trying.

2 words
first word rhymes with crepe

Going forward, it would be nice to see Quiz's in the form of a question.
It's often too confusing to tell what exactly the question being asked is...

I don't think that necessarily makes anything easier to answer.

Second question hint: drop the middle 2 words of the official title.
I think we need hints based on what the answer actually expects now.

The Assassin's Creed question which had an incorrect answer for a while was fixed about six hours into the question's life. Anyone who answered it correctly had their grade for the question adjusted to A, with 10/10 points.

As mentioned in the Magazine "Week on Arc" post from Wednesday, dailies have been shifted to 5am/pm PST start times. This is now reflected on the Quiz page itself which says the update at 5am and 5pm PST.

There is a 5pm question today, however in most cases, 5pm questions will be hard mode bonuses.

Three more dailies on Tuesday at 5am PST. Keeping the train rolling.

Question - despite having a ton of answers, my thing still says "F Grade" - and I know I should be a B/C average at least...

Though, 5AM is still not ideal. Still means those on PST have to log in at work to answer them for full points.

Yeah, easy easy easy.

Though yeah, I got an A and only 10 points out of 600?!

1) one word. MAME can simulate with it on or off, and I suggest looking at what the Odyssey shipped with.
2) two words. There are two names for this. It's one or the other. The second word is a common programming language that shipped with computers back then.
3) one hyphenated word (hyphen important). Though, really, you don't need any hints since it's THE mod for Half-Life.

And I still have an F grade despite never scoring an F.

Answer is 3 words. It's not the name of the people, it's the team name.

HINT: Look up the name of the game that led to Portal (the one created at DigiPen) and you'll have the answer. Easy.

It's honestly fascinating seeing where many developers and designers came from, or where "original" concepts originated. MANY of them have small student games, independent titles, and throwaway releases that nobody would consider as the basis for what would come later. Even Nintendo has numerous examples of this, with different algorithms and techniques starting in completely unrelated earlier releases, even across multiple generations.

It's not a huge surprise - as indie games generally are of low investment so they are more free to play with ideas. So if they release something that doesn't work, well, it just becomes another one of the 90% of indie games that end up being a piece of crap and fading away.

Though, I could swear there was a game that involved a portal-like thing that was released much earlier. While not being a game about portals (they were fixed, rahter than offering the ability to set the endpoints arbitrarily). I can't remember what it was though...

Prey. Came out on PC and Xbox 360. The earliest tech demos for the game were in 1997 and I THINK 1995. It's amazing how far back the concept goes.

Definitely! My friend and I got so into entering random codes into that thing to see what it would do to the game. Especially the SNES version on Street Fighter 2. The best one we stumbled upon kept the fighters in a squatting position for the full match, while little brown 'fart clouds' appeared randomly behind their bums. Such a great device!

Alternatively, what you might come up with if you combined the two single-word names of the games mentioned.
